The Ethics Review Board
Oversight conducted under Dave's standing authority.
The FlapSnaps Ethics Review Board exists to record oversight under Dave's standing authority.
Board membership
- Dave
Dave is the sole member, chair, secretary, and final authority.
Standing agenda
- Dave calls the meeting to order using a noise only Dave recognises.
- The previous minutes are approved, despite not being written down.
- Pending review items are described as "several" and moved along briskly.
- The official stamp is admired for a respectful length of time.
- Any other business is deferred until Dave decides it was already covered.
Board remit
- Review ethical complaints.
- Interpret the Code of Flap Ethics.
- Advise Dave, subject to Dave's final determination.
Quorum rules
- Quorum is achieved when Dave is present, nearby, or has recently formed an opinion.
- A tie is impossible, but Dave has prepared for one by agreeing with himself in advance.
- Emergency quorum may be declared if someone says, "Dave, have a look at this."
One Dave. One vote. One inevitable outcome.
Decision making
Decisions are reached unanimously. This has never been an issue.
The board has a perfect record of internal agreement.
Stamp of approval
The official stamp is applied verbally. This reduces stationery costs and prevents anyone from asking where the stamp is kept.
Appeals process
- An appeal is submitted to the Board.
- The Board forwards the appeal to Dave.
- Dave considers whether Dave was right.
- Dave confirms that Dave was right.
- The appeal returns to the Board for ceremonial closure.
Appeal status: denied before reading, unless Dave reads it, in which case it is denied after reading.
Transparency
Board deliberations are private. Outcomes may be communicated where appropriate.
The existence of this board does not limit Dave's authority in any way.
